Girl Native began in 2019 with a kawakawa balm made at a kitchen bench. Since then we have put what we have into people: rangatahi in Porirua, Māori and Pasifika makers, wāhine in business and Indigenous brands around the world.

Every initiative below began with the same belief: when one of us rises, we bring others with us.
Porirua Young Entrepreneur Scholarship
Founded by Girl Native and Egypt Rain as part of the Porirua Youth Awards, the PYE Scholarship supports ngā taiohi o Porirua, aged 16 to 24, with their business and career goals. Recipients receive a grant, mentoring and introductions to other founders. Our 2022 recipient was Maria Mihaka, founder of Tropical Beauty Bar.
About the PYE ScholarshipGlobal Indigenous Beauty Awards
Founded by Rawinia to recognise Indigenous-led beauty, wellness and fashion brands. The inaugural Awards brought together brands from Aotearoa, Australia, Samoa, Canada and Alaska, each scored independently by a panel of Indigenous founders and industry leaders.
The 2026 winnersGlobal Indigenous Beauty Collective
The next step after recognition: a programme that takes Indigenous brands from mentorship onto shelves at Flying Solo in New York (SoHo) and Paris. The first New York intake opens on 1 November 2026.
EnquireNative Collective
A platform for Māori and Pasifika designers and makers, giving emerging and established businesses a place to show their New Zealand-made taonga alongside Girl Native.
Clean Hub
We partnered with Clean Hub, which works with local collectors to recover plastic waste before it reaches waterways and the sea, with a portion of our sales funding collection and recycling.
Workshops for pakihi Māori
Rawinia shares what she has learned building Girl Native through business workshops and wānanga, including Startup Basics for pakihi Māori with Māori in Business Wairarapa.

Looking after the whenua.
The same care goes into every jar. Meet our plants.
- Rongoā, with respectOur formulas are built around the plants of Aotearoa. Our harakeke is harvested in Kāwhia by Mana Wāhine, and we share each plant's story as it was shared with us.
- Small batchesMade in small batches in Aotearoa, so nothing sits on a shelf for long and very little is wasted.
- Amber glassAmber glass protects each formula from light and can be recycled again and again.
- Cruelty-freeWe never test on animals.
